The NWMLS reported 2,240 Pending Sales of Single Family and Condo homes in King County, Washington for August 2010. Sure these numbers are not nearly as robust as before or what we in the industry would like to see BUT beyond the negative gloom of daily reporting on housing, the fact remains that there are MORE THAN TWO THOUSAND buyers who had confidence and have contracts in place to own property ! Congratulations to those buyers.

R U tired of the conflicting news on housing?

Truly, isn’t the daily barrage on housing stats in the various media making you depressed and really not giving you any solid base from which to make sound real estate decisions?

Well, from my perspective as an interpreter of data and trends, I am confused and numbed to housing reports as well.

Now I am not stating that all data is worthless, it is not. But real estate is local and that is where I focus so that I can provide you with good counsel on when to buy or sell depending on your needs.

So you will find less emphasis on the national reports that often mean little for our region and our neighborhoods.

I will still report and analize trends and sales stats but with a focus on consumer attitudes and jobs, which need to grow and become stable before housing rebounds.

Mixed #’s for May existing home sales

National existing home sales were off 2% for May but the West had a 5% gain. These numbers of both national and regional results are important to economic barometers but ALL real estate is local and I always caution buyers and sellers to look at the activity and trends in their immediate neighborhood and the Puget Sound area as a whole for making decisions.
